It is called Factory Reset or Wiping the phone . Wiping means deleting everything and making the phone new again . Just like it was when you opened the box for the first time . But be careful my friend . If you do this wrong you can lose your precious photos forever . Or worse you can lock your phone permanently . Do not worry I will guide you step by step . I will explain in very simple English . Follow my steps and you will be safe .

Step 1 Prepare Your Phone (Do Not Skip This)
Before we press any buttons we must prepare . Wiping is a permanent action . There is no undo button here . So please follow these three safety rules first .
Rule A Backup Your Data
Once you wipe the phone all your photos and videos will vanish . Your contacts and messages will be deleted . So first save them somewhere safe . Use Google Photos to backup your pictures . Go to Settings and sync your contacts to your Google Account . Or copy your files to a laptop or SD card . Double check that you have saved everything important .
Rule B Charge Your Battery
This process takes time and consumes power . If your battery dies in the middle of a reset your phone might die too . It can corrupt the motherboard software . So please charge your phone to at least 70 percent . Do not take this risk with a low battery .
Listen to me very carefully here . This is where 99 percent of people make a mistake . Android has a security feature called FRP Lock . If you reset your phone without removing your Google email . The phone will ask for that same email and password after reset . If you forget the password your phone becomes a brick . You cannot use it . So go to Settings then Accounts then Google . Remove all Google accounts before resetting . This will make the phone completely unlocked for the next user .
Method 1 The Settings Menu (Easiest Way)
This is the standard method for working phones . If you can open your phone and touch the screen use this way . Steps may be slightly different for Samsung or Redmi but the logic is same .
1 Open the Settings app on your phone .
2 Scroll down to the bottom and find System or General Management .
3 Look for an option called Reset Options . In some phones it is under "About Phone" .
4 You will see three choices . Reset Wi-Fi . Reset App Preferences . Erase All Data (Factory Reset) . Click on Erase All Data .
5 The phone will show you a warning list . It will tell you that music photos and accounts will be deleted . Scroll down and click the button Reset Phone or Erase Everything .
6 The phone will ask for your Screen Lock PIN or Pattern . Enter your password to confirm .
7 Now the phone will restart . You will see an Android robot logo . It will take about 5 to 10 minutes . Do not press any buttons . When it wakes up it will say Hello or Welcome . Congratulations your phone is wiped clean .
Method 2 The Hard Reset (For Locked Phones)
What if you forgot your PIN code . Or what if your phone is stuck on the logo and not starting . In this case the Settings menu will not work . We have to use the secret buttons . This is called Hard Reset or Recovery Mode .
How To Enter Recovery Mode
First switch off your phone completely . Now you need to press a specific combination of buttons .
- For Samsung Phones : Press Volume Up + Power Button together . Keep holding until you see the logo .
- For Most Other Phones : Press Volume Down + Power Button together .
Once the screen lights up release the Power button but keep holding Volume button . You will see a black screen with small English text . This is the Recovery Mode .
Executing The Wipe
Use the Volume Down button to move down . Find the option that says Wipe Data / Factory Reset . It is usually the fourth or fifth option . Press the Power Button to select it . The phone will ask you one more time . Are you sure . Select Factory Data Reset and press Power button . Wait for a few seconds . At the bottom you will see Data Wipe Complete . Now select the first option Reboot System Now . Your phone will restart and it will be unlocked .
Method 3 Find My Device (If Phone Is Stolen)
Sometimes we lose our phone and we are scared . We have personal photos and bank apps inside . We want to wipe it from a distance . You can do this using Google Find My Device .
Go to any computer or another phone . Search for Find My Device on Google . Login with the same Gmail ID that was in your lost phone . You will see your phone on a map . Click on the option Erase Device . Google will send a signal to your lost phone . It will instantly format everything . Even if the thief tries to open it he will find nothing . But remember after this you cannot track the location anymore .
What To Do After Wiping
Once your phone restarts it is like a new baby . You have to set it up again . Select your language as English . Connect to your Wi Fi network . Login with your Google Account . The phone will ask if you want to restore old data . You can say Yes to bring back your contacts . Now download your favorite apps like WhatsApp and Facebook . Your phone will run much faster now . The battery life will also improve .
